Estimation of Homodyne Crosstalk in Optical Network

چکیده
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to carry out an analysis of optical network by calculating bit error rate (BER) as a function of signal to noise ratio by using Hermitian polynomial for different homodyne crosstalk levels. The results have been plotted for different crosstalk level for BER as a function of single to noise ratio (SNR) by using exact analysis and Gaussian approximation and the results are compared. Simulations have been carried out in MAT Lab Version 7.4. We present an exact analytical probability density function and a closed form bit error rate formula for optical network which performance is degraded by homodyne crosstalk. In homodyne (intra-channel) crosstalk, the interfering signal is at same wavelength as the desired signal. This effect is more severe than inter-channel crosstalk (in which interfering signal operates at different wavelength), since the interference falls completely within the receiver bandwidth.

Homodyne Crosstalk Optimization in Cascaded OADMs by Polarization Control
Homodyne crosstalk causes severe system performance degradation in optical networks by beating with the desired signal. This is more critical in ring and bus networks when consecutive nodes lead to a cumulative homodyne crosstalk. In this paper we present a polarization control technique to reduce the beating and therefore improve the network performance.

We propose and experimentally investigate the use of SPM broadened spectrum filtering technique to suppress homodyne crosstalk of high-speed optical signals. Crosstalk tolerance is found to be enhanced by about 4-dB for 10-Gbps RZ data.

The impact of homodyne and heterodyne crosstalk on transmission performance of optical space switches based on a Benes network is studied. The system power penalty is evaluated as a function of the switch size using a rigorous approach based on the Gaussian quadrature rules method. These results are used as a reference to assess the accuracy of other relevant methods, such as saddlepoint approx...

A number of models with various degrees of accuracy were proposed in the literature for the evaluation of the probability density function @df) of the direct detection receiver photocurrent in optically amplified communication systems in the presence of N incoherent homodyne interferers, e.g. most recently 111. Previous models neglect the crosstalk-crosstalk and amplified spontaneous emission (...

I propose an iterative expectation maximization algorithm for reconstructing a quantum optical ensemble from a set of balanced homodyne measurements performed on an optical state. The algorithm applies directly to the acquired data, bypassing the intermediate step of calculating marginal distributions. The advantages of the new method are made manifest by comparing it with the traditional inver...
